Original Museum

The Original Museum in Rose Hill is Located at 106 South Main Street, Rose Hill, Ks 67133

The Original Museum in Rose Hill was built in 1880 by JC Haines on land originally owned by JG Berry. Over the years, additions have included a kitchen (replacing the back porch), a bathroom, a north porch on the west side of the building, and a south porch on the west side of the building.

Other timeline highlights of the Original Museum include:

  • Commonly called the “Titus home” in the 1970s and 1980s
  • Became “A Scoop of History” ice cream shop in May of 2004
  • On December 8, 2008, the City purchased the building for $50,000 and leased it to Rose Hill Historical Society for just $1/year
  • On October 6, 2010, the Society began yearly payments of $4,000 to purchase building
  • On December 23, 2011, Rocky Waitt paid off the Museum loan
  • Now staged as a house of the early 1900s
