Honoring Early Rose Hill, Kansas

Welcome to the Rose Hill Historical Society!

We hope you enjoy browsing this site and learning more about the heritage of Rose Hill, Kansas. The Historical Society was started in 2007 with the intent of preserving the past and to build community support for the historical society.

Rose Hill, Kansas was named by J.H. Lowery, in 1869. At the time, the government provided incentives for railroad workers and farmers to “Go West, Young Man, Go West” and settle the land. Mr. Lowery built a home about one mile south of the current elementary school where he planted roses, shrubs, and trees. Read How Rose Hill Bloomed!
